On December 17, 2020, at 11:00 am the next online scientific seminar of the Faculty of  Mechanics and Mathematics will be held. At the seminar, the docent of the Department of “Mathematical analysis” of the Mechanics and Mathematics faculty, doctor of mathematics Rashid Aliev will speech on the theme “Smoothness problem in representation by sums of ridge functions”.

The approximation of functions of many variables by ridge functions has many applications in computed tomography, mathematical statistics, as well as in neural networks widely used in finance, medicine, mechanical engineering, geology, physics, forecasting and control problems. The report provides detailed information on ridge functions and a solution to the problem posed by the A.Pincus on smoothness problem in ridge functions representation .
