ATTENTION

On February 18, 2021, at 11:00 am the next online scientific seminar of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics will be held. At the seminar, the professor of the Department of “Mathematical analysis” of the Mechanics and Mathematics faculty, Doctor of  Mathematical Sciences Ziyatkhan Seyfaddin oglu Aliyev will speech on the theme “Basic properties of eigenfunctions and uniform convergence of spectral expansions of regular fourth-order Sturmian systems with a spectral parameter in the boundary conditions”.

The report will present a spectral problem for ordinary differential equations of fourth order with a spectral parameter in the boundary conditions, arising in the description of bending vibrations of a homogeneous rod, the left end of which is fixed, and at the right end is concentrated an inertial load. Information will be given on the structure of root subspaces, on the oscillatory properties of eigenfunctions and their derivatives, on refined asymptotic formulas for  eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, on the basis properties of subsystems of eigenfunctions, and the uniform convergence of spectral expansions in these subsystems of the considered problem.
